Why you should pay attention to coupons! Almay for FREE

I posted here a couple of weeks ago of an extra special Almay deal that was available when you stacked the $5 off 2 coupon with the special going on at +Walgreens  of buy one get one for 50% and the $2 Walgreens coupon.

Some people say, "I don't want to mess with coupons, what's the big deal about saving $0.50?"

While I see their point, and I certainly don't always use a coupon especially when I am in a hurry, the picture above demonstrates why I LOVE coupons.

All of those eye shadows were free AND furthermore, I made $1.50 off of every 2.  That's because the manufacturer coupon paired with Walgreens sale and Walgreens coupon gave me an overage.  Let me explain:

• Buy 2 Almay softies eye shadow for $4.99 for the first one, $2.49 for the second one (Walgreens buy one get one 50% off deal)
• Use the January coupon book that has $2 off Almay cosmetics (subtracts $4)
• Use the $5 off 2 manufacturers coupon (subtracts $5)
• Total purchase, $7.49 subtract $9 in coupons = $1.50 CREDIT

Now, you have to add more items in your shopping trip because Walgreens won't let you take the $1.50 as cash. 

What I did in this particular transaction is pair the Almay softies eye shadows with other more expensive Almay products that I would have to pay out of my pocket for BUT when purchased together would use up the $1.50 credit.  I actually purchased 6 sets of 2 eye shadows, so that resulted in $9 credit that I could add other items to the transaction and get them for low cost/free.

AND THAT IS WHY I LOVE COUPONS!  This deal is no longer working, but believe me, there are many,many deals like this to be had in the future.
